East meets west

Summary

The CFCCA in Manchester is home to a bold programme of radical art, but people regarded it as a community centre for oriental art.

Something had to change. Educating and attracting a wider audience called for a more representative expression of their contemporary exhibitions and boundary-pushing spirit. 

Unmistakably Chinese and clearly contemporary the new identity – a vertically arranged identity in a sharp modern typeface – put their distinctive stamp on literature, signage and posters, while letting their groundbreaking art take centre stage.
